Ferry Schedule

Spring & Fall

May 3 - June 20 / September 2 - October 11
Ferries depart Long Wharf daily for Georges and Spectacle Islands every hour on the hour from 10AM to 3PM with one exception. The 11AM ferry stops only on Georges throughout the week, with the addition of a stop on Lovells Island on weekends only. Return trips from Georges are every hour on the half-hour from 10:30AM to 3:30PM with an additional late return at 4:45PM. Return trips from Spectacle are frequent but vary, check schedule. The last return to Long Wharf from Spectacle Island is at 5:00PM.

October 11 - November 1
Ferries depart Long Wharf on Saturdays and Sundays for Spectacle Island every hour on the hour from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. Return trips to Long Wharf are every hour on the half-hour from 10:30AM to 4:30PM.

Summer

June 21 - September 1
Mon-Thurs: Ferries depart Long Wharf for Georges and Spectacle Islands every hour on-the-hour from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Return trips from Georges Island are every hour on the half-hour from 9:30AM to 5:30PM. Return trips from Spectacle are frequent but vary, check schedule. The last return to Boston from Spectacle Island is at 5:45PM.

Fri-Sat-Sun: Ferries depart Long Wharf daily every half-hour from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Departures on the hour arrive Spectacle Island, departures on the half-hour arrive Georges Island. Return trips from Spectacle Island are every hour on the half-hour from 9:30AM to 6:30PM. Return trips from Georges Island are every hour on the hour from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. A free inter-island shuttle (Northern Loop) runs frequently between Georges and Spectacle Islands. On Sundays, a free shuttle also operates between Spectacle and Thompson Islands. Visitors may also take an inter-island shuttle from Georges Island (Southern Loop) to Bumpkin, Grape, Lovells & Peddocks for an additional $3.00 fee. See schedule for details.

Public Transportation

To reach Long Wharf, take the MBTA blue line (subway) to the Aquarium stop and walk toward the waterfront. The Harbor Islands Express Dock is located on the north side of the Long Wharf Marriott next to Christopher Columbus Park.

South Station in Boston is a 10-15 minute walk from Long Wharf. It is served by local and interstate buses, commuter rail, and subways (www.mbta.com). AMTRAK (www.amtrak.com) provides interstate passenger service to South Station.

If you fly in or out of Boston over the water, you'll get an excellent view. Harbor Express operates ferry service to the islands and Boston from Logan Airport. The MBTA blue line (subway) arrives from Logan Airport at the Aquarium stop at Long Wharf.

Driving Directions

If you plan to drive, please be aware that we recommend public transportation.

From the south, take I-93 to exit 23 (Atlantic Avenue & Northern Avenue). Follow signs to Atlantic Avenue and the New England Aquarium.

By car from the north, take I-93 to exit 23 Purchase Street/South Station. Take your first left on to Congress, then an immediate left on to Atlantic Avenue. Follow signs to the New England Aquarium.

Garage parking is available near Long Wharf for about $25 per day. (On-street parking is free on Sundays, though finding a space difficult).
