Description

Take a guided tour of Fort Warren.

Fort Warren was built to defend the port of Boston and was staffed with soldiers for about 90 years. Now a National Historic Landmark, Warren held captured Confederates during the Civil War. Common guided tour themes include, Civil War prison life, design and evolution of the fort, armaments history, social history, and the World War I and World War II years.

Directions

Take the park ferry to this program.

During the summer season, park ferries depart frequently from Long Wharf, Boston; Fore River Shipyard in Quincy; Hingham Shipyard; and Pemberton Point, Hull. We suggest arriving at the dock at least 30 minutes prior to departure to allow time for ticketing and boarding.
